Norton Simon Museum seeks full-time Director of Education and Public Programs to oversee and develop its educational initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, implements education-related events, lectures, performances, classes, and tour programs
  • Researches and writes curricula on the Museum’s exhibitions and collection for schools and teachers
  • Manages education coordinator, education assistant and group of paid museum educators
  • Recruits and trains Museum educators, who lead 5-12th-grade school tours, private and general public tours, and family programs
  • Collaborates with curatorial team on developing programs for diverse audiences
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community members, local school personnel and peers in the museum education field

Qualifications

  • M.A. desirable
  • Seven years progressive museum education experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing, public speaking and computer skills required

Physical Requirements

Frequent computer use and prolonged sitting/standing; ability to lift up to 15 pounds

Schedule

On-site M-F 9:00 - 5:30pm, evening/weekend hours expected

Salary Range : $95,000-$110,000 annually
