Director of Education and Public Programs
Norton Simon Museum seeks full-time Director of Education and Public Programs to oversee and develop its educational initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develops, coordinates, implements education-related events, lectures, performances, classes, and tour programs
- Researches and writes curricula on the Museum’s exhibitions and collection for schools and teachers
- Manages education coordinator, education assistant and group of paid museum educators
- Recruits and trains Museum educators, who lead 5-12th-grade school tours, private and general public tours, and family programs
- Collaborates with curatorial team on developing programs for diverse audiences
- Develops and maintains relationships with community members, local school personnel and peers in the museum education field
Qualifications
- M.A. desirable
- Seven years progressive museum education experience
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, public speaking and computer skills required
Physical Requirements
Frequent computer use and prolonged sitting/standing; ability to lift up to 15 pounds
Schedule
On-site M-F 9:00 - 5:30pm, evening/weekend hours expected

Salary Range : $95,000-$110,000 annually
