About the San Diego Museum Council (SDMC)
The San Diego Museum Council (SDMC) is a regional network that connects cultural institutions with audiences and with one another. With more than 100 member organizations, SDMC serves as a vital hub for the San Diego region’s museum community. The Council advances the region’s cultural ecosystem through networking and professional development, cooperative advertising programs, digital marketing support, and countywide initiatives such as Museum Month in February, The Big Exchange in May, and Kids Free in October.

About the Role
SDMC is seeking an experienced non-profit/museum professional to serve as Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as an innovative, forward-thinking leader with strong organizational leadership skills and deep experience in cultural or nonprofit institutions. They will provide strategic vision and operational oversight, and are charged with overall responsibility for executing the Museum Council’s mission to increase awareness, connect, provide services, and advocate for the diverse museums within our membership. The Executive Director currently serves as the sole employee of the SDMC, managing the day-to-day operations, partnerships, fundraising, and marketing, with governance and fundraising support from the Board.
