Funded by a 3-year grant from the IMLS, the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH) partnered with the Amah Mutsun Land Trust to establish a public native garden at the MAH. The project centers Indigenous peoples in community-based artistic and curatorial practice. Two years into its foundation, we examine the process, effects, challenges, and possibilities of native gardens in public urban spaces.
